The latest Donald Trump talking point (well, kind of yelling, kind of extemporaneous, typically exaggerated point) that the left is using to ensure everyone knows he’s a fascist is “the enemy within.”
It seems the thinking goes: Hitler pretty much kinda sorta, well we all know what he meant, he may not have actually said it that much, if ever, but clearly always implied the concept of “the enemy within” to describe Jews and others. Therefore, Trump is Hitler.
Imagine what the press would do with a picture of him driving a Volkswagen.
CNN even took Trump running mate J.D. Vance directly to task on the term, with anchor Jake Tapper claiming it meant Trump would sic the military on political opponents.
Vance was having none of it, pointing out that Trump had never said that.
Tapper’s response was essentially “yeah, well but, other people have called him a fascist so it fits.”
The entire desperate move to tar Trump as an actual fascist salivating at the chance to destroy “the enemy within” is just that – an attempt to convince people that anyone walking out a Whole Foods with a jar of $13 dollar asparagus water and vegan dog food will be arrested and shipped off to internment camp the moment they cross the threshold.
Trump is not a fascist. Fascist’s like things like wars and overarching government power and censorship and terrifying the populace and making sure everyone is looking over the shoulder at all times just in case someone is listening.
Actually, you know who does actually like these things? The current power elite.
And you know who is actually doing these things right now? The current power elite.
But it is most likely more than a case of mere psychological projection. It seems that the Harris campaign thinks the public didn’t react strongly – and negatively enough – to their dubbing him a dictator and/or authoritarian and that only the word fascist will trigger the proper electoral response.
Is the strategy working? Um, no.
Since the Harris campaign went all in on the word, the polls have shown a smallish but, at this point in the campaign, possibly decisive shift towards Trump.
Does this mean Americans are fascists? No – it means Americans are tired of being demonized as deplorable and that more and more are starting to see through the absurd lies and really beginning to realize how much they have been defrauded and manipulated and deceived.
Since her sugar high after the absolutely fair and completely democratic choice of Harris and not as staged as a Nuremberg rally convention, Kamala has been struggling. The flipping on fracking and the border wall and, well, a bunch of other things have not quite sealed the deal, hence the whole fascism thing.
It is an unholy Hail Mary pass that appears as if it’s going to end in an interception.
Which means the deep state will either have to try to repeat the coordinated destruction of the Trump presidency it pulled off during his entire first term (as Roger Kimball in The Spectator noted, Trump was allowed to take office in 2016 but not allowed to take power ) or it’s welcome to an enema within the state.
Speaking of enemas, here is a picture of a 150 year old enema device. Know what the creepiest thing is about this? It was a rental – yup, absolutely seriously, you could rent an enema.
Eww.
Speaking of art, instead of a thank you epigram, I thought I would pass this link along.
It’s for the YouTube channel ‘Learn from Masters” and contains a bunch of vids – in depth, longish – about art history. Bosch, Leonardo, Botticelli, you name em’, they’re here.
Fun fact: in The Last Supper, Jesus is positioned exactly in the foreground of the painting’s vanishing point, which the subconscious picks up, emphasizing the fact that it’s a going away party.
