Hamas’ brutal – and brutally stupid – attack on Israel has done more than kills thousands of Jews – and Palestinians.
It has exposed an astonishing fault line on the left/woke/progressive/equitarian side of American politics.
Astonishing to those, of course, who haven’t been paying close attention to the underlying core principles of the woke movement: any group that is perceived as being rich and powerful and capitalist right now (the non-profits and non-governmental organizations that support the woke may be even richer and even more powerful but they’re not capitalist and/or birthed from a supremacist/colonialist/hegemonic system) is the enemy. End of discussion.
Astonishing to the hundreds of thousands of non-antisemitic college professors and students who marched alongside the woke but have now looked around campus in the past few weeks and thought “Hey – what’s up with that?”
Berkeley Law School Dean Erwin Chemerinsky – so woke he is physically incapable of sleep, so progressive he removed the reverse gear from his electric car, so left he would make Trotsky blush – is astonished, too.
In Los Angeles Times op-ed, Chemerinsky was shocked – SHOCKED, I tell ya! – that the movement he helped birth was not such a big fan of Jews.
“I was stunned when students across the country, including mine, immediately celebrated the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on Oct. 7,” wrote Chemerinsky, noting that as Jew himself he has never seen such widespread and open hate in his life. “There has been enough silence and enough tolerance of antisemitism on college campuses. I call on my fellow university administrators to speak out and denounce the celebrations of Hamas and the blatant antisemitism that is being voiced.”
That’s possible, Erwin, if you can borrow Mr. Peabody’s Wayback Machine for a day or two. If you can’t, you may just have to reap what you have sown.
It’s not just campuses that have shown the oozy antisemitic underbelly of the woke movement. Saturday, DC https://www.foxnews.com/us/calls-violence-against-jews-rock-dc-amid-massive-pro-palestinian-protest saw thousands of people fill the streets to demand Israel stop being mean to Hamas - in other words, for Israel to agree to just go away.
Forever.
It was, of course, a young crowd, meaning it had exactly zero sense of history https://thomas699.substack.com/p/hamas-and-israel and scared the bejeezus out of President Biden’s campaign team. In 2020, Biden did well among the youth vote and in 2022 it was the younger vote that held back the expected congressional “red wave.”
Promised the elimination of their student debt and terrified they wouldn’t be able to get an abortion, the under-30 voter actually bothered to show up to vote and then voted Democratic in even larger numbers than usual.
Now, with student debt freebies off the table and the abortion issue dialed back from 11, that block of votes was already not going to turn out in droves anyway. Throw in its distaste for Biden even talking about helping Jews and the number falls even further.
One note on the debt issue: expect Biden to roll out another series of absurd lies and/or illegalities regarding debt in the coming year. One of his campaign messages will be “the evil Supreme Court Republicans are making you pay that bill every month, so vote Democrat to take Congress back to pass a bill to end your debt and guarantee free cool shoes and an 11 hour work week and…”
As an example of how far the woke will go to support Hamas and simultaneously hammer Republicans – the House passing a bill Biden asked for aid to Israel was not enough because it didn’t pay for the Democrats’ plaything/war in Ukraine - uber-progressive website Salon published this headline:
“MAGA and Christian Nationalism Bigger Threat to America than Hamas Could Ever Be.”
Here’s the story - https://www.salon.com/2023/11/02/maga-and-christian-nationalism-bigger-to-america-than-hamas-could-ever-be/ - and here’s the funny thing: they changed the headline.
Here is the new headline: “Far-right MAGA theocrats: Most dangerous threat to America”
It seems even Salon realized it shouldn’t so publicly advertise its puerile hate for Jews and Christians, you know, in a Judeo-Christian society.
Speaking of advertising puerile hate, a question:
Is this attempted rape?
Guy sees girl, guy whips it out, guy follows girl, grabs girl from behind, guy lifts up girl’s dress, guy thrusts against her.
Seemed like attempted rape to the victim and everyone else on the planet…except for Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon.
Cops from the city of Long Beach – where this occurred – found the homeless guy and arrested him. But in California, cities only handle – at most – misdemeanor cases so he was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery. The City Attorney immediately referred the case to Gascon’s office for felony attempted rape charges – standard practice – and Gascon’s office said no.
They said no, that’s not attempted rape.
“Nobody in their right mind looked at that video and thought anything less than attempted rape,” said Rebekah Pedersen, the very angry victim.
Pedersen went very public with her anger, doing the media rounds for the next week or so and went in to Gascon’s office to talk to a deputy prosecutor personally about the case.
She was told there wasn’t enough proof for attempted rape.
Then something interesting happened: George Gascon remembered he is up for re-election in March and – while the felony charges have yet to be filed – Pedersen has said publicly that she was told they will be soon.
Gascon – an erstwhile ally (until his son decided to run against him) of the very same Erwin Chemerinsky noted above, by the way - is one of the worst of the new wave of Soros-backed progressive prosecutors and has been featured in these pages - https://thomas699.substack.com/p/corruption-by-any-other-name
And it is events like these why he has been featured so prominently in these pages, because this is the state of woke today:
Yay Hamas, yay rapists. Boo Jews, boo rape victims.
Well, that’s too depressing to end on, so here’s this bit of fun from the Australian government workplace comedy “Utopia”:
Well, maybe that was too depressingly real, but it was still funny.
And if you happen to have a VPN and if you happen to set it to Australia and you happen to head over to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation website and you happen to click on iView and accidentally click on comedy and purely by coincidence click on Utopia you can watch the whole series yourself – but I’m not recommending you do that or even taking advantage of the possibility if that series of happenstances randomly occurs.
Thanks for subscribing!
If some street creature walked up to Gascon's wife and attacked her, would that suddenly be rape? Who knows? He's so bland and amoral he may even use the same criteria as he did for Rebekah Pederson. Oh, he didn't "penetrate" her, so it's not so bad. God help you in Los Angeles if that little troll gets voted back in again. At least we managed to throw Chesa Boudin out.
