Everyone knows how Kamala Harris got her start in politics – she had an affair with the then-married San Francisco kingmaker Willie Brown.

He appointed her to a couple of state boards (very little work but good pay) and helped maneuver her move from the Oakland DA’s office into San Francisco’s in order to run against a district attorney Brown did not like.

With the the help of Brown, she won and the rest is history.

And, however much she tries, she cannot seem to escape that horizontal past.

Especially when things like this resurface:

That’s Kamala hanging out with Willie and being asked “Are you his daughter?”

The tone of the response is hysterical, as is the fact that being asked if you are the daughter of the married man whom you are let having you on the side in order to further your career has to be rather embarrassing.

Actually, it has to be one of the most embarrassing questions a person could possibly be asked.

This resurfaced video also causes one to wonder – did her running mate Tim Walz see it before he praised her as a “young prostituter” last week?

Her nickname in the Oakland DA’s office – when she was a deputy there - was apparently “heels up Harris” and she famously dated P. Diddy - and another woman at the same time?  Who knows?  Of course this was, ahem, before his current icy sex related criminal charges were filed, but predilections build over time so, again, who knows?

Considering Donald Trump’s amorous notoriety, all of this is double standard sexist twaddle (I double checked the spelling on that) you say?

Well, no.  It’s different – really different.

What did Trump get out of his countless affairs and dalliances and such?  Millions in alimony payments, a sullied reputation, massive lawsuits, and even an absurd criminal charge for paying off a one-night stand.

In other words, Trump’s dalliances – while presumably fun at the time -  have not been of a net, long term benefit to him.

With Harris, it’s the exact opposite.  Because, as Trump noted during the debate, she “puts out” she is now a hair’s breadth from being President of the United States.

That’s why it’s different and why it’s an appropriate topic for serious (if giggly) political discussion.

She got where she is today – rich (she eventually married rather well) and politically powerful because of whom she slept with.  That’s it.

And the world should be reminded of that as often as possible.

Speaking of being reminded, the nation was again reminded last week that Joe Biden is not at all quite there…or is he?
