Look! In the Sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s the last shred of the Biden administration’s international credibility!
This week’s Chinese fire drill for what remains of Joe’s acuity came in the form of a balloon floating lazily across the country. Theories abound as to exactly why China launched it – I mean their spy satellites can see me make a typo while I’m makeing it for God’s sake so why would they need to use the least stealthy surveillance method known to man?
The answer seems to be: because they could. And they wanted to see exactly how Washington would react, or fail to, and they got their answer.
For those still clinging to the notion that it could not be shot down over land because it might hit someone, please do remember that it was over the northern Pacific and/or the Aleutian Islands for quite some time. And we knew it was there and what it was. Beside the risk that the takedown would end up on a very special episode of “The Deadliest Catch,” it was eminently doable well before it wandered overhead of all of the nuclear missile silos in the northern Great Plains.
Score another one for Xi.
