Despite the fact that almost every environmental group is saying it’s not happening and every government agency involved is saying it’s not happening - but even if it is happening the offshore wind farmers have a permit to do it anyway – whales are dying in droves off the northeast coast of the United States because of windmills.
Since nuking the whales didn’t work out, let’s try winding them instead, I guess?
Here’s a pretty typical denial of the reality of the situation – and hey, whadda ya know? it’s a fact check:
https://www.factcheck.org/2023/03/no-evidence-offshore-wind-development-killing-whales/ .
Since it has been fact checked as the opposite, now we’re even more sure the wind is killing whales.
But the question seems to come down to which of the three ‘Cs’ are at play: Coincidence, correlation, or causality? Since the only thing that has changed in the environment is the building (and pre-construction planning involving sonar pulsing,) coincidence is out. Correlation seems a bit of a stretch, too, so the likelihood of causality is the most likely answer -
.
Apparently – even though the permits issued for building literally allows for the “taking” of a certain number of whales per project – the evidence will not be strong enough for the normally panicked environmentalists until they see a letter from a whale explicitly stating she was killed by a wind turbine.
Maybe if the whales glued themselves to the turbines their plight may be taken more seriously.
All of this to get rid of pesky fossil fuels. Although, come to think of it, it kind of makes sense because whales used to die in droves in order to provide another non-fossil fuel: whale oil.
And the circle is complete.
Speaking of circles – circle jerks, specifically – here is a question to ponder:
So last week (hence the title – neat!) a place got a bit out of control and devolved into chaos.
It was a pretty interesting idea a few years ago, but now there are floods, fires, orgies, drugs, crime, massive amounts of money spent on nothing, and lots of techies getting involved in both figurative and literal circle jerks. And then poor people who had nothing to do with what happened had to clean up the mess.
And the traffic was terrible.
So – are we talking about California or Burning Man? Either way you are correct.
