While Congress investigating COVID may sound a bit like trusting a platypus to understand quantum mechanics, the effort did get off to an interesting start last week with a trio of doctors and scientists that thought the response was, literally, overkill, and one guy with letters after his name the subcommittee Democrats brought forth to get agreeable answers from.
You can watch the whole “roundtable” here -
- if you are of a mind, but to sum up – the Great Barrington Declaration was right - https://gbdeclaration.org/ - and the nation was needlessly ground to a halt by an overweening despotism that really didn’t have much of – or any – an impact on the spread of the virus and its impacts.
And those in charge of the response knew it and lied about it - https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2023/03/01/dr_marty_makary_the_greatest_perpetrator_of_misinformation_during_covid_was_the_us_government.html .
This Wednesday, the subcommittee is back at it but in a slightly more formal setting and will feature, among others, former CDC head Robert Redfield and Nicholas Wade, the former New York Times science writer whose May, 2021 story - https://nicholaswade.medium.com/origin-of-covid-following-the-clues-6f03564c038 - was pretty much the reason reasonable people could kinda/sorta start discussing COVID honestly.
It should actually be quite interesting; starts about 9 a.m. Eastern and you can see it here - https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/investigating-the-origins-of-covid-19/ .
