It is called the deep state and is portrayed as an amorphous blob of coinciding interests emanating from various bits and pieces and nooks and crannies of the security and intelligence communities, with think tanks and certain members of the media and lobbyists and corporations thrown in for good measure.
But what if “deep state” does not quite capture the essence of the issue? What if “deep nation” is a better descriptor?
What if viewing the power structure as the deep state misses the point and does not accurately describe an entirely independent separate organization that is beholden only to its members, the citizens of Deep Nation?
How to define a nation, or country? Historically, it typically has had the following: a language, an army, borders, limitations on citizenship, an ability to act independently of other nations, a culture, an economy, and usually at least a semi-religious ethos that underpins its internal standards of morality.
The nation of Deep has all of these things, hence making it seperate from the country it is supposed to serve; like a tapeworm, it exists within but is physically separate from its host.
Like a tapeworm, the deep nation is an independent separate sovereign being, despite its reliance upon a host, a host that is the United States, the EU, the UN, the WEF, the QUANGOS, the colleges, the think tanks…but mostly the US.
It is not a cancerous mass, as the deep state is usually described, but an entity unto itself.
Consider the following:
· Language: Bureaucrat is not easy to speak and does not come naturally to most, but it is the lingua franca of the deep nation (with a dollop of diversity/academia thrown in.)
· Army: Besides its clutches on the actual armed forces of United States (the main host, as it were,) the deep nation has its own way of protecting itself and waging war upon anyone or anything that threatens it. The tanks may be the media, the guns may be lawsuits, planes may be censorship, and the military police maybe the destruction of anyone who dares step out of line, but they are all equally real….and destructively effective.
· Borders: One can be borne into the deep nation (the number of generational nepo-babies in and around DC is mindboggling,) or one can marry into it (see the media and “communications “cabal,) or one can beg to join (these are usually looked upon with suspicion) or one can apply for citizenship, typically by going to Yale. And, unlike what is happening in the United States for the time being, the borders are heavily defended – the nation of Deep would never tolerate what happened under Biden. Tests of fealty must be passed and mass deportations (of whistleblowers and such) are common. And woe betide the illegal aliens, like Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, RFK Jr., Jay Bhattacharya, etc. – they will be fought in a way that even the Mexican cartel coyotes cannot imagine.
· Defense: Beyond its army, the deep nation has perfected a separate way to protect itself – subject its detractors and apostates and opponents to legal (civil or criminal) torture. In the nation of Deep, the process is the punishment.
· Independence: For decades, it has acted utterly on its own, only occasionally letting certain people in for a look when it has no choice. But even then, like Kim Jong Un’s North Korea, such visitors are only allowed to see what the nation has decided they can, the fact that they are elected representatives of the people be damned. In other words, citizens of the nation of Deep can talk and act amongst themselves but, in regard to the rest of existence, say nothing and/or act entirely independently. It is beholden only to itself.
· Culture: The deep nation has its own priorities, its own standards of acceptable behavior, its own entertainment, its own intellectual (using the term lightly) underpinnings created by the DC think tanks (doesn’t matter where the money comes from,) its own music, and even its own comedy (or lack thereof) that skewers nothing save those outside its borders. As for the idea of being able to say what one wishes to, that is given up upon citizenship, making it a perfect ally for the censoring of the speech of other nations, other cultures. And, of course, it keeps the allies/fellow travelers in the deeply hated opponent of the United States in cash by funding the NEA, NEH, etc.
· Economy: Here the deep nation is at its most parasitic, as its entire economy relies not on producing anything of value or mining for resources but on what it can skim, what it can grift, what it steal, what it can counterfeit, what it can force other nations, like the United States, to pump into it. Again, it is reminiscent of North Korea, which is a nation whose primary export is human hair but – through crime and threats and connivances –has managed to build its own nuclear program.
· Ethico-Religious: The deep nation has a very simple church – itself. Its citizens believe they are doing the right and perfect thing, that they are pure of heart, that the ends justify the means, and that those who do not agree are perfectly subjectable to inquisition. Services? The Sunday morning shows where they receive their weekly sermons, followed by brunch.
· Societal hierarchy – This is self-explanatory.
The incoming Trump administration has vowed (again) to take on the deep state. The first time, he failed in large part because he was unprepared for the job and he thought that people would have to do what he said because he was president.
But while he was president of our country, even president of the deep state, he was not president of the nation of Deep. This time, he must see the enemy for what it is, a wholly independent entity that cannot be destroyed with half measures.
And it seems this time he gets it.
