So the good people amongst just made sure to pay their taxes.
So in the joyous spirit of paying for something you may have already paid for, I thought it would be fun to go very off topic and talk about cover songs.
So in the spirit of repetition, I thought I would it would be fun to just make a list of links of some of the best covers – I think – ever.
So to continue that idea, I thought it would be fun to open up the comments to everyone and ask y’all to add your own songs – just covers, not rip-offs or heavy samples, mind you.
So to start, here’s a cover I came across on the new Star Trek show “Picard” – and yes the show can be a bit a whiny pain but it turns out to be far better than that “subtle as a crutch” Trek thingy called Discovery.
So here you go – in backwards order – cover first (sorry for any ads).
California Dreamin’
Train in Vain
Gin and Juice
Slippery People
Kiss
and a Tom Jones bonus cover, with The Cardigans doing the Talking Heads:
So obviously there are a zillion others – Respect, Natural Woman, Sweet Jane, Satisfaction, Black Hole Sun, Torn, Superman, and on and on, so do please play along in the comments.
So, to close, this is not a cover but, as it was just Easter, a version of the revolutionary/traditional Irish song “The Foggy Dew” from The Chieftains and Sinead O’Connor.
So, by the way, she sang this is one take after getting a level check.
So, hope you enjoyed!
Okay, to start the comments I'll add this dyad
Since Post Modern Jukebox only does covers, I left it out but it is so amazing I think it should be included.
Criminal - first PMJ, then the original Fiona Apple song follows (word is MTV- when they actually showed videos - made sure the young Apple had turned 18 before they aired it).
