Today is the 21st anniversary of the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the - heroically thwarted - Capitol attacks by Osama bin Laden and his band of craven terrorists.
The impact on the nation and the world, the tragedy that befell the families of the nearly 3,000 Americans who died that day, and the Herculean efforts of the firefighters and doctors and nurses and soldiers and sailors and airmen and police officers who responded that day - and in the days to follow - can never be forgotten.
But - as a person who was flirting with the onset of middle age that terrible morning - it occurs to me that if you were born on 9/11 there is something you can do today that you have never been able to do before - legally drink.
How’s that for perspective?
You are exactly right, Mr. St. Hubbins - exactly right.
ps - sorry of the sound is a bit wonky - best version I could find.
Short and to the point. Sadness, gratitude and hope. Thank you!
