There are times in life when one can only shake one’s head and wonder if a person is just plain stupid or intentionally evil…
This week’s contestant - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Okay, I know what you’re thinking – How could such a beautiful vivacious dedicated public servant be considered either stupid or evil? Sure, you may not agree with her, but she’s really really really committed to helping and belonging and honoring and including and uplifting and listening and speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Anyhoo, is AOC stupid? Sadly, yes. She doesn’t know how the Supreme Court works, she doesn’t know what an actual concentration camp is, she doesn’t understand that people who live in her district need jobs in order to buy food and stuff, she thought it would be a good idea to have a national work boycott when things began to re-open after the pandemic, she thinks the incredibly off-putting woke attitude is a vote-winner, she…the internet’s not big enough. (feel free to find these story links and many many more – it’s more fun that way.)
Well, if I must – she thought wearing a slinky “tax the rich” dress to a gazillion-dollar gala would, um, raise consciousness(?) about something (?), she faked being handcuffed in protest of – doesn’t matter, no one remembers what she was going on about just that she was going on about something.
And that’s a crucial aspect of her stupidity – she cannot tell the difference between her saying something and essentially any other aspect of reality. If she speaks it, it is real to her.
On a personal note, I, too, was a bartender and elected official. First, I can tell you exactly why AOC made a good bartender – check that – made a good living as a bartender and it has nothing to do with her ability to add rum to coke. Just because it sounds sexist doesn’t make it false – Don’t believe me? Trust the MythBusters:
Second, when I was mayor of Lake Elsinore, California, the Los Angeles Times decided to pay a visit and chat with me about why our city was actually encouraging new development (remember, this is California.) We met at the city’s minor league ballpark, chatted, the reporter took a quick pic, and the story turned out quite well I must say.
The Times, for its part, did not bring a photographer and a stylist and thousands of dollars’ worth of designer clothing for me to wear while my picture was taken – after her election, Interview magazine did just that for AOC. Here’s the pic:
When asked about the glaring hypocrisy of the incident, she snippily responded that they weren’t her clothes and she simply wore what they brought with them for the photo shoot. She seemed to have no idea that that is NOT standard operating procedure for political interviews.
On to evil.
AOC is a liar, a back stabber, a condescension machine, a hypocrite, etc. – in other words, she embodies a whole host of the aspects of evil.
But does that make her evil? Her “Green New Deal” proposal would literally drive millions of Americans into poverty. That’s pretty evil. She favors government, or at least government-adjacent, censorship. She is more than willing to be the pretty progressive face of the Deep State. She drove thousands of Amazon jobs out of New York City and away from her own constituents – ruining futures seems darn evil.
She consistently acts in bad faith, she supports putting criminals back into neighborhoods, and she supports letting homeless people die in the streets – all evil.
And her stance on Israel puts her in the same neighborhood as some very very evil people.
So which is it? Evil or stupid?
Clearly it could easily be both; in fact it is both. But which is the dominant descriptor?
Does too stupid to be evil work? Or too evil to be stupid?
How about “stuvil?”
I think that fits.
A note on the pretty issue – Objectively, she is technically physically attractive though – as we all know – that played no role in her getting elected and does not in any way influence the on-going media fascination. But the eyes…the eyes…the eyes…
To be blunt, she almost always appears manic, a person you really don’t want to be trapped in a conversation with – and not just because limited intelligence and abhorrent politics. I have heard – not even going to go to Wikipedia on this, so, salt meet grain – that if you can typically see all around a person’s iris when they are not actively excited or surprised or similarly disturbed that means they are quite likely to be legitimately, diagnosably, actually nuts.
And I had a girlfriend who had perfect eyesight but wore glasses without prescription lenses, just clear glass, to – she literally said this – look smart. I have the distinct feeling AOC does the same thing.
I still can't figure out how people like AOC get elected. I guess that is where the stupid part comes in; are our voters really that stupid? I like to use the famous saying "you cant fix stupid"; I hope I am wrong.
