I’d like to thank Point reader John Droz, Jr. for submitting this piece on the problems with science education in America and how it could possibly be remedied.
Droz is a retired physicist who has been watching the educational system very closely for some years and is not terribly pleased with what he sees.
It should be noted he is encouraging feedback and comments on his ideas; to that end the comments section is being left open to all for this posting and you can find his direct email address below.
As the report is a bit too long for standard Substack posting, here is a very brief overview and the link to the PDF of the entire report can be found below.
Again, I’d like to thank John for submitting this report and I would encourage others to send in ideas and/or submission of their own for consideration to planbuckley@gmail.com
U.S. K-12 students - who will soon become citizens - are currently taught lemming-like adherence to the political flavor of the day.
This was brought about by a cabal of left-leaning parties, who (in 2014) infused “progressive” political ideology into the cleverly-but-deceptively-named Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). They then succeeded in fooling some 45 states to adopt the NGSS, either partially or in its entirety.
So what’s the problem? The NGSS is a political polemic, even scrapping such science traditions as the “scientific method.”
Startlingly, over the last 10± years, few teachers, parents, citizens, scientists, or conservative organizations have publicly objected to this erosion of teaching science!
My response as a physicist is this new report which identifies eight serious problems with the NGSS and offers very achievable solutions:

I would appreciate any feedback on my report, so feel free to email me at: aaprjohn@northnet.org
Note – the report is in downloadable PDF format and IMO means “in my opinion.” I had to look that up.
If there are any problems with the link, please do email me at the addy above.
