Democrats Need A Climate Change
"The Fault, Dear Brutus, is Not in Our Stars, but in Ourselves"
According to the ever popular, ever powerful, and essentially mythical claim that anthropogenic climate change is destroying the world, the polar bears are dying, the ice caps are shrinking, and the very atmosphere we live and breathe in more toxic over the past few years.
The Democratic Party firmly believes in this power-grabbing absurdity, which is why the fact they need to have an actual climate change of their own – and very very soon – joyously ironic.
Replace “polar bears” with “senate seats,” and “ice caps” with popular support, and “toxic atmosphere” with, well, the woke toxic atmosphere that permeates the party and, again, over the past few years the party has succumbed to at least the figurative aspects of the supposed evils of climate change.
And that’s why the party needs its own climate change – if it is to move forward after the recent drubbing, the Democrats need to change their own environment and stop trying to change everyone else’s.
The socialite socialist statists that have permeated and mutated the upper echelons of the party must be dispensed with, the pronoun/trans/etc. agenda that must be cancelled (as it were,) and the ultra-reliance on white lower-upper middle class people with degrees (note – the term ‘well educated’ was not used ) must end.
They may have money and all-too-often meaningless letters after their name, but there are simply not enough of them to carry Democrats through to the future.
Now, I am not a Democrat and it may seem odd that I am offering tips and suggestions as to how they can re-animate their suicided corpse. But having national Democrats not be as silly/crazy as they are now and having a legit two-party system in which reasonable policy proposals could be hashed out are not inherently bad things.
Oh, and they will not listen anyway, so what the hell? I might as well.
How did the Democrats get here? First, the party marginalized/demonized anyone who would not go along with the progressive program. In part, it really was the loudest, bitchiness, and most extreme members of the party that ran the show and the few remaining grown-ups (cough, Joe Biden’s claim, cough) were too chicken to do anything about it. The party devolved into a Mensheviks versus Bolsheviks back room argument and the bolshies won because they just wouldn’t shut up.
It is politically axiomatic that once a group starts going “extreme,” the most extreme elements of whatever remains will run the entire show because they are the “purist.”
Of course, the most public aspect of this was the calling of everyone who disagreed with them a fascist. The public very quickly figured out this was an absurd and vicious lie, which ended up costing Democrats bigly – if I may borrow a term – in the recent election.
Second, the party thought that famous people help. They do, but not to the extent the party thinks.
George Clooney may translate into automatic box office in Hollywood, but he does not automatically translate into more votes at the ballot box. (Note – it is clear that Nancy Pelosi and some Hollywood/Silicon Valley types and assorted big donors pushed Biden out. Not sure that worked as well as expected, especially considering Biden clearly and obviously and intentionally futzed with Kamala Harris’ campaign.)
In other words, spending a few more dollars on TV ads in Wisconsin (like Hillary should have done) rather than blowing vast wads of cash on celebrity hootenannies may have been the better option (Note – yes, Oprah got paid. Super double ick.)
Third, the party seems to think that most folks actually like and/or agree with what they want to do. That’s false, but is believed by the Democrat apparatchik that never leave whatever city they live in. The party has, for years, not asked “what will play in Peoria?” It has only asked “What cool things can we say at DC cocktail parties?”
Fourth, beyond appearances and “messaging “ (hard to believe, but there really are Democrat pundits and operatives out there saying that that was the problem - snortlaugh) the party must look at its policies and procedures and try to figure out how to return to even a vague semblance of rationality and create a governing construct that will appeal to people – at this point, pretty much literally anyone – outside of the nation’s various beltways.
The folks currently running the show have been coddled from birth, do not accept the concept that other people may have a different view of things, and lose their minds when things do not go exactly their way.
It is okay, to an extent, to be an ideologue, especially if you do not have to interact with the real world. But it is not okay – and you will never convince other people to follow you without the threat of societal (cancel culture) or even physical (BLM/antifa) force - to so spiral into your own belief construct that everything and everyone else becomes your personal epitome of evil.
Aside – imagine (very much imagine because he isn’t) if you actually thought Donald Trump really was a fascist/Hitler/etc. and you had a billion dollars to stop him and you failed miserably and utterly in doing so? Should that not give one pause?
So, to be blunt, the Democrats need to return to at least a plausible view of reality, even if they have to crawl over the broken glass that is the woke wing they cowardly empowered to do so.
Having squandered a billion dollars while losing the White House, the senate, the house, and scores of progressives ballot measures across the country, it is – right now - perfectly appropriate to give the kids a spanking and send them to bed without dinner.
Have fun with that.
