I can so readily relate to this. I felt alienated and continue to feel that, although having left the northeast for northwest Florida nearly two years ago, I'm very grateful that we're here. Life immediately felt better here.
Re that impulse to power, it's in all of us, but so many -- through vanity or what Thomas Sowell called "The Vision of the Anointed -- indulge that impulse in ways large and small. This cohort "shoulds" us to death and justify their preferences because they voted on it...
